Researchers involved in the ELECTROMET project participated in the ECOMATES Final Conference, “Power-to-X for a Sustainable Future”, held from 6 to 10 July 2026 at the University of Iceland in Reykjavík. The event brought together representatives from academia and industry to present advances in Power-to-X technologies, electrochemical CO₂ conversion, catalyst design and reactor development.

José Antonio Abarca, from the University of Cantabria, delivered the presentation “Direct conversion of CO₂ to CH₄ for electrochemical biogas upgrading”, focused on the direct electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide into methane as an alternative approach for biogas upgrading and valorisation.

Mario Gallone, from Politecnico di Torino, presented the work “CeO₂ as support for electrocatalytic reduction of CO₂ to CH₄: synthesis, characterization, and performance optimization”, addressing the use of cerium oxide as a support material for electrocatalysts designed to produce methane from CO₂.

The participation of both researchers provided an opportunity to share knowledge closely aligned with ELECTROMET’s objectives and strengthen the project’s visibility within the European community working on renewable fuels and sustainable CO₂ conversion technologies.
